Guia International Applications on Apple iOS and Apple Mac
We get regular inquiries regarding the ability to run Guia International applications on an Apple Mac.  There are ways to run Windows application on a Mac either by running a virtual machine or by running an application such as Crossover for Mac (application virtualization) from CodeWeavers.  We are currently planning testing of Crossover and will update this post with more information at a later date.  In the meantime, if you try one of our applications on Crossover we would be interested in hearing about your experience.

While there is a small cost assocated with the Crossover software, please keep in mind that you can use Crossover to run other Windows applications, not just Guia International software applications.  Consequently, it is an investment which you spread out over many Windows applications.

If you are interested in virtualizing Windows on your Mac, then the best option would be running Boot Camp Assistant which is an application that comes by default with the Apple Mac and can be used to run Windows on a Mac by creating a dual boot Mac.  By creating a dual boot Mac, you can either boot into the normal Mac operating system, or Microsoft Windows each time you start your Mac.  With a Windows boot option available on your Mac, you can boot into Windows and install any of the Guia International applications as you normally would on a PC.

As to how to use Boot Camp Assistant on a Mac to create a Windows bootable operating system, please see the video and articles below.

Re: Guia International Applications on Apple iOS and Apple Mac
There appear to be some additional options for virtualizing Windows applications on an Apple Mac.  Although we strongly recommend using Boot Camp Assistant as discussed in the previous post on this topic, these resources are also available for you to try if for some reason Boot Camp Assistant does not work for you.

VirtualBox has a free virtualization tool.

Parallels makes a desktop virtualization software application for Apple Macs.

And VMWare makes desktop virualization products as well.

Re: Guia International Applications on Apple iOS and Apple Mac
Full compatibility with Crossover for Mac from http://codeweavers.com has been achieved and will be available shortly in the SEW 4.5.23 revision.  The Picture Timeclock application and the Employee Scheduling Assistant application will both be updated as well to be Apple Mac compatible.  Please stay tuned for additional information.

Please note that if  you are running Boot Camp Assistant with a Windows bootable operating system on your Mac, you can run any version of the SEW, ESA, or PTC software as you normally would on a PC.  SEW Version 4.5.23 is now compatibile with Crossover for Mac, but this does not affect compatbility for those using a Windows bootable partition on their Mac.

Re: Guia International Applications on Apple iOS and Apple Mac
Use the following procedure to setup the SEW application version 4.5.23 or newer with Crossover for Mac on an Apple Mac computer.  Please note: this does not apply to users running Boot Camp Assistant with a bootable Windows operating system.  With a bootable Windows operating system created by Boot Camp Assistant, users can directly install any Guia International application regardless of version on the Windows operating system directly.  The applies only to users trying to use Crossover for Mac.
  1. Download the SEW 4.5.23 or later trial version, single license version, or the site license version from this website.
  2. Download the Crossover Mac software from the following link (a free trial is available). https://www.codeweavers.com/products/crossover-mac/download
  3. Download the Crossover Mac preconfigured Bottle Archive from http://www.workschedules.com/ftp/CrossoverForAppleMacBottleArchive.zip
  4. Install the Crossover Mac sottware on your Apple computer and open the Crossover Mac software.
  5. Unzip the bottle archive and go to the bottom left menu and select Import Bottle Archive..., browse to the preconfigured bottle archive file you unzipped, and complete the import process.
  6. Unzip the SEW application.zip file.  Then go to the Crossover Mac software and use the lower bottom menu to install an application into the bottle you just imported.  Select "An application not listed" and continue.  Select browse for the installer file option and browse to the two SEW application files you unzipped and select Setup.exe.  Click continue and finish.  The SEW application installation wizard will begin and complete the wizard to install the SEW application into the bottle.
  7. When the installation completes, you will see the orange SEW icon in the Crossover Mac window.  Double click it to open the SEW application.
Once the SEW application is setup in Crossover Mac, there are a few Mac configuration settings that may be useful.
  1. Auto-hide the Apple menu bar.  The main scheduling form will be below the bottom of the monitor by the width of the menu bar at the top.  Go to System Preferences, General icon, and click to automatically hide and show the menu bar.
  2. Auto-hide the Apple Dock.  There is a Dock icon in System Preferences which allows you to control the location of the Dock as well as ability to auto-hide the Dock.
  3. Right-clicking on the scheduling form may not be available with the default Mac settings.  Go to the Mouse Icon in System Preferences and select the "Secondary Click" option.
  4. Networking for the Site License version.  You may need to configure the network settings using the Network icon in System Preferences to connect to the network.  Please do this before trying to use a network database location for the SEW.mdb file.
For the Site License version, to connect to a network file share, we recommend the following procedure.
  1. Go to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then select Login Items at the top.
  2. Make sure the current user is selected on the left, and then click the + sign below the list box to add a location to open when logging in.
  3. In the Explorer window that opens, click on the Network under Locations on the left, and then browse to the file share folder where the SEW.mdb file is located.
  4. Click on the folder to highlight it and then click Add.
  5. Back in the list, you may have to click over to the Password tab and then back to the Login Items tab to see the new network folder you selected.  Once you see it in the list, click the Hide checkbox next to it.
  6. Exit System Preferences.
  7. Now open the SEW application ad select the Network Path option from the File menu.
  8. Click the Browse... button to select the network folder.  Click the Look In drop down list at the top, and select the "/" location.  Then double-click the Volumes subfolder.  You should now see a list of the network folders you created including the one just setup in Users & Groups.  Open this network folder and select the Sew.mdb database.
Please contact techsupport@workschedules.com if you need assistance with the setup.
